Jane is dog breeder, professional dog trainer, and author. Her book “When Pigs Fly: Training Success With Impossible Dogs” is the bible for training non-biddable (stubborn) breeds.

She’s also written articles for numerous magazines, most notably a 28 article series for Clean Run Magazine about training non-traditional breeds in agility. She’s fortunate enough to travel the world presenting seminars on dog behavior and training, with a focus on dogs who are particularly difficult to train.   

Jane and her husband, Mark Lindquist, breed Bull Terriers under the Madcap kennel name, and they have scores of breed and performance titles to their credit. For years, Jane was the local contact for Bull Terrier rescue, and fostered and placed many dogs.  

“Puppy Culture” is the product of Jane’s quest for the science and wisdom which would lead to the best outcomes for her own puppies.

Dr. Terri Bright earned her Master's of Science degree and Ph. D. at Simmons College. She is a mentor for future BCBA's, and is an adjunct professor in the Behavior Analysis Department at Simmons College. 

Her dissertation research entailed developing an dog behavior assessment and analysis tool that will help to standardize how dog trainers evaluate why problem behaviors happen.

She has been training dogs as a hobby and professionally for many years and has had a private animal behavior practice that includes all manner of behavior issues for nine years. Her own dogs, all Bull Terriers, have competed in Obedience, Agility and/or conformation, with great results.  Her dog Fanny was the top Agility Bull  Terrier in the U.S. in 2006 and 2007.  Her rescued dog, Pepper, helped to teach Terri how to train and manage human- and dog-aggressive dogs, and Terri's youngest dog, Radio, is a breed champion and has been the subject of Terri’s research on stimulus equivalence (matching-to-sample training) that garnered Terri a Marian Breland Bailey (MBB) Award from the Association of Applied Behavior Analysis International (ABAI). 

Terri won another MBB Award from ABAI for her research on the use of errorless teaching to train a Shelter dog to sit at the sound of a bell (“Pavlov’s Shelter”) when she was not in the dog's sight. She uses evidence-based methods of training.

Terri launched the Training Department at the MSPCA-Boston location in 2007, and, with a phalanx of crackerjack training instructors, has grown the program to over 30 classes a week. She helps to evaluate homeless dogs surrendered at the MSPCA for proper placement, and designs training and enrichment programs for dogs at the MSPCA.   

She also designs and implements curriculum and teaching for staff and volunteers in the “Safewalk” program, which she created in 2009, and lectures locally and nationally on behavior analysis.  She is currently theDirector of the Behavior Department at MSPCA/Angell,and sees private clients there with their dogs and cats who have behavioral issues.

Carmen was given his first dog by his grandfather when he was five years old. That was the beginning of a lifelong fascination with all aspects of dog behavior, breeding, training, and showing. He has bred and finished several Champions, Select Dogs, Futurity and Maturity winners. Today, he is a highly respected AKC judge of more than 40 breeds.

Dr. Battaglia’s articles have appeared in the "AKC Gazette," "Dog World," "Dog News," "South African Dog Magazine," as well as dog publications in Australia and Ireland. 

Being very active in the dog world, Dr. Battaglia is a Director of the American Kennel Club and has served as Chairman of such important committees as: National Genetics Committee (German Shepherd Dog Club of America), the American Kennel Club Committee for the Future, and the Health and Education Delegates Committee. 

The AKC called upon his expertise in genetics to create and develop their DNA program. He is also a much-sought-after speaker on this topic for television and radio talk shows.

Dr. Battaglia is the author of several different books on dog breeding, and has gained worldwide recognition for the program he developed -"Breeding Better Dogs."  

He has written a book and video based on his program, and he delivers popular seminars on this topic to breed clubs around the country.

Frequently described as the most rational voice in dog training today, Jean Donaldson is one of the top dog trainers in the world and has lectured extensively in the United States, Canada, the UK, Europe, and Japan. Before transitioning full-time to dog training, Jean successfully competed in numerous dog sports, and studied comparative psychology.

Jean directsThe Academy for Dog Trainers,regarded as the Harvard for dog trainers. The Academy has trained and certified over 200 trainers in class training and private behavior counseling, and has a three to six month wait-list for its courses.

Jean is a four-time winner of The Dog Writers' Association of America's Maxwell Award, and her seminal book “The Culture Clash” was named number one training and behavior book by The Association of Pet Dog Trainers. Her other books include “Mine! A Guide to Resource Guarding in Dogs,” “Fight! A Guide to Dog-Dog Aggression,” and “Oh Behave! Dogs From Pavlov to Premack to Pinker.” Her latest book, “Train Like a Pro,” is her first written for a lay audience, and is about basic training for family dogs.

Dr. Leal completed his undergraduate work at the University of Tennessee, where he obtained a BA in the College Scholars Program. During that time he published an article on “Gamma –glutamyl transpeptidase in maturing mice testes."  In 1984, he graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine. His article titled “The diagnosis of a VSD in a Hereford calf” appeared in the Compendium of Continuing Education. In addition to extensive private practice experience, he is past president of the MNJVMA (whose main focus is on CE for the veterinary practitioner). 

He has been specially trained and educated by Zoetis Animal Health in the field of pain management, sedation, and anesthesia as well as in the field of dermatology. He has also been further educated by Abbott Laboratories to provide information on injectable and gas anesthesia for the general practitioner. 

Dr. Leal is the current owner of anAAHA accredited six-doctor small animal hospital in Blairstown, NJ.He also provides the medical and surgical care (including sedation, anesthesia and pain management) for the wolves, bobcats, and foxes at the Lakota Wolf Preserve in Northern New Jersey. 

Dr. Leal has been visiting practices around the tri-state area for over 9 years providing information on the specific use of sedation drugs. Recently, these educational sessions have expanded to provide information on a novel drug for dermatology. He has also lectured internationally in Tokyo, Japan. Through luncheons, wet-labs, and personal communication, he is able to bring this information to individual veterinary practices.

Dr. Bernier is a 1997 graduate of the University of Montreal’s School of Veterinary Medicine. She completed an internship in medicine and surgery at Purdue University as well as a residency in Neurology and Neurosurgery at the University of Pennsylvania. She became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Neurology) in 2001. During her residency, Dr. Bernier completed a fellowship on MRI techniques at the University of Pennsylvania. She currently works as a Neurologist atGarden State Veterinary Specialistsin Tinton Falls, NJ.

Diane Zdrodowski has been involved with purebred dogs since 1973, first with a Tibetan Spaniel, then a Springer Spaniel. She has been breeding Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and Tibetan Spaniels since 1996.

She was designated as a Breeder of Merit by the AKC in 2012. Diane has bred or owned 23 Certified Therapy dogs and one of her outstanding dogs, Bentley, won the AKC, ACE award in 2004 for Pet Therapy based on two programs they founded at Hackensack University Medical Center Tomorrow's Children's Institute and a program in the Warren County Special Schools District.  

Diane has written several published articles on the breed and was also the Breeder-Advisor on "The Dogs Life Series, Cavalier King Charles Spaniels" with author Loren Spiotta-DiMare.  

Diane continues to breed both Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and Tibetan Spaniels on a limited basis underEvanlake Kennels,continues to show her dogs, and does Pet Therapy for special functions. She lives in Blairstown with her husband Paul and all her furry creatures, including an African Grey Parrot named Bridget.
